The Discovery of the Body

On Friday, Miami-Dade Sheriff’s deputies were called to the scene after receiving reports of a body found inside a cooler at the back of the Chicagoan Bar. Surveillance footage from a nearby business captured first responders as they made their way to the cooler behind the bar. Upon arrival, deputies discovered the victim’s body inside a Reddy Ice cooler, which was positioned near the rear of the establishment. According to the arrest report, the victim’s body showed signs of blood inside the cooler, indicating a violent encounter. An employee at the bar was reportedly alerted by Reddy Ice workers, who discovered the body. The identity of the victim has not yet been released, and an autopsy was conducted by the Miami-Dade Medical Examiner’s Office. The results determined that the cause of death was “homicidal violence.”

Clues Lead to Rivera-Peraza

Investigators quickly narrowed in on Rivera-Peraza as a suspect in the case. According to the arrest report, fraudulent identification credentials were found at the scene, which helped identify Rivera-Peraza as the individual involved in the incident. The following day, deputies located him and brought him in for questioning.

Confession and Details of the Murder

During questioning, Rivera-Peraza waived his Miranda rights and confessed to the crime. He provided a detailed account of the events leading up to the murder. Rivera-Peraza told deputies that he had armed himself with a metal pipe, struck the victim several times, and then placed the body inside the cooler. The motive for the crime has not been fully disclosed, but Rivera-Peraza’s confession was crucial in securing his arrest.

Charges and Detention

Following his confession, Rivera-Peraza was formally charged with second-degree murder. He was transported to the Turner Guilford Knight Detention Center where he remains in custody. The investigation is ongoing, and authorities continue to piece together the details surrounding the victim’s death. The discovery of the body in the cooler has shocked the local community, with many expressing disbelief over the violence that took place in what is typically considered a quiet neighborhood. The Miami-Dade Sheriff’s Office is continuing to investigate the case, and additional information may be released as the investigation progresses.
