AMBER Alert Issued: Fears Grow for Missing Teen Sisters in Texas

31

Communities across Central Texas are gripped with worry after two teenage sisters vanished just days apart, prompting the issuance of AMBER Alerts and a multi-county search effort. Authorities believe both girls may be in serious danger, and their family is pleading for help in bringing them home safely.

Who Are the Missing Girls?

Fifteen-year-old Aunastasia Herrera was last seen late Saturday night, around midnight, near the 1400 block of SW HK Dodgen Loop in Temple, Texas. She’s described as 5’2”, weighing about 115 pounds, with black hair and brown eyes. She was wearing a green hoodie, blue jeans, and black shoes when she disappeared.

Just two days earlier, her younger sister, fourteen-year-old Natalia Herrera, was reported missing around 2:30 a.m. on April 4 in Woodway, a small town southwest of Waco. Natalia is 5’6”, also around 115 pounds, with black hair and brown eyes. She was last seen in a black puffy jacket and black clothing.

Both girls are originally from Waco, and authorities believe they may be trying to reunite there — or may already be in the area.

Why Authorities Are Deeply Concerned

While it’s not the first time the girls have run away, law enforcement says this situation is different — and more dangerous. The AMBER Alert system was activated because officials believe there is a credible threat to the girls’ safety. They may not be together yet, but both disappearances are being investigated as connected.

Temple Police and Woodway officers are working together, along with the Texas Department of Public Safety, to find the sisters as quickly as possible. The public’s help is crucial in doing so.

Where the Search Is Focused

The search has expanded well beyond the girls’ hometown. The AMBER Alert has been issued across more than 30 counties in Central Texas, including Bell, McLennan, Coryell, and Dallas counties. Authorities are hoping that with the wide alert, someone will recognize the girls and contact police.

Their family and friends have been sharing photos and details across social media, urging others to be on the lookout. Every tip could be critical.

Community and Technology Step In

Social media is playing an important role in getting the word out. In recent years, platforms like TikTok have started supporting AMBER Alerts, using location data to send notifications to users nearby. It’s one more way to make sure as many eyes as possible are on the lookout.

And it works — according to the National Center for Missing & Exploited Children, over 1,200 children have been safely recovered through AMBER Alerts since the system began.

Family Pleas and Public Appeal

While police are handling the investigation, the girls’ loved ones are heartbroken and desperate for answers. The uncertainty, the fear — it’s every parent’s nightmare.

If you see Aunastasia or Natalia, or have any information that could help, you’re urged to call the Temple Police Department at (254) 298-5500, or simply dial 911. Time is of the essence.

This Is a Moment to Pay Attention

This isn’t just a story about two missing girls. It’s a wake-up call about how fragile safety can be — and how vital it is for communities to look out for one another. These aren’t just faces on a poster; they’re daughters, sisters, classmates, and friends.

Let’s keep our eyes open and our hearts engaged. A shared photo or a quick phone call could be the difference between heartbreak and homecoming.
