A Wisconsin man, Ronald Fuller, pleaded guilty on Monday to the second-degree reckless homicide of his ex-girlfriend, LaKeyshia Timmons, who was fatally shot in Milwaukee in 2024. Fuller, 53, admitted to the crime but claimed that the “devil” had led him to her home, where he took her life. He is scheduled to be sentenced in May.

The Tragic Shooting of LaKeyshia Timmons

According to a probable cause affidavit, Milwaukee police responded to a ShotSpotter report of gunfire on the morning of March 7, 2024, at around 7:30 a.m. in the 2700 block of N. 18th Street. When officers arrived, they found Timmons lying on the ground with a gunshot wound to her side. Despite the paramedics’ efforts, she was pronounced dead at the scene. Detectives found nine shell casings about 65 feet away from Timmons’ body, indicating multiple shots were fired. One of Timmons’ sons, who had been sleeping at the time, woke up to the sound of gunfire. He looked outside and saw his mother on the ground and a man with a distinct limp walking away. The son recognized the man as Ronald Fuller, who he had known for years as the father of his younger siblings. Fuller was later identified by the son from an arrest photo and was wearing the same clothes seen in the footage.

Fuller’s Movements and Final Encounter

Surveillance video from the area provided key evidence in the case. The footage showed Fuller walking around Timmons’ house as she returned home in her van. As she exited the vehicle, she saw Fuller approaching her and immediately recognized him. According to the affidavit, Timmons said, “Ron, what the f— you doing Ron? Don’t play with me Ron; don’t play with me Ron. Ron no, I am your baby momma dude, What the f— is wrong with you Ron? Ron stop playing.” The video then showed Fuller walking away with the same distinct limp that had been reported earlier.

The Custody Dispute and Fuller’s Admission

Investigators later uncovered that Fuller and Timmons were in the midst of a contentious custody dispute over their three children. Fuller had allegedly learned where she lived from one of their children and decided to confront her. In a post-Miranda interview with law enforcement, Fuller confessed to shooting Timmons. When asked why, Fuller stated he didn’t know but claimed that “the devil” made him walk to her house and kill her. He further explained that he had no clear motive for the shooting, leaving investigators with more questions about his actions.

Timmons’ Legacy and Family’s Grief

LaKeyshia Timmons was a mother of eight children, and her family has been left devastated by her loss. In a GoFundMe fundraiser created to honor Timmons, her daughter, Latanilia Timmons, shared details of the domestic violence history between Fuller and her mother. She wrote, “My mother went through all the avenues to ensure safety from this man, but he somehow found our new address and plotted to kill our mother after she dropped my siblings off at school. He waited until she returned home and took her life.” The tragic murder of LaKeyshia Timmons has sparked an outpouring of grief from her family and the community, as they mourn the loss of a loving mother who had tried to protect her children from an abusive relationship.
