Man ‘Disemboweled’ his 74-Year-Old Dad After Becoming Convinced he was an Alien: Cops

A Texas man has been charged with murder after allegedly disemboweling his 74-year-old father, slitting his throat, and leaving him to die in their El Paso home. The crime occurred just days after the suspect, Jaime Adrian Contreras, attacked his father with a hammer, believing his father was an alien. Authorities discovered the victim’s decomposing body over the weekend, leading to the arrest of Jaime Contreras, 39.
The Attack and Growing Delusions
On April 5, Victor Gerardo Contreras, 74, called the police to report that his son, Jaime, had attacked him with a hammer. According to the victim’s wife, Victor told her that Jaime was “acting crazy again” during the altercation. Despite the police arriving at the scene and conducting an investigation, the case was closed as a non-incident, and no immediate action was taken. Jaime’s mental health was described as being “okay” at the time, and the officers left without making further inquiries into his behavior. However, investigators later uncovered troubling details about Jaime Contreras’ delusions. According to charging documents, he had become convinced that his father was no longer human and had been taken over by an extraterrestrial being. Jaime allegedly believed that the alien presence in his father’s body was attempting to harvest his organs. He also reportedly told officers after his arrest that he had been “battling” with his father in the days leading up to the murder.

Past Incidents of Disturbing Behavior
Court documents from 2023 revealed that Jaime had a history of bizarre and disturbing behavior. In one incident, he was seen walking around his father’s neighborhood with a decapitated rabbit. On another occasion, Jaime allegedly had a mental breakdown over his belief that his father was an alien. These incidents raise questions about Jaime’s mental state and whether he had been struggling with severe delusions for some time before the fatal attack.
The Murder and Aftermath
On April 7, police discovered the body of Victor Contreras inside the family’s home on Ronald McNair Drive. Investigators reported that the victim’s body was in an advanced state of decomposition, with signs of severe trauma, including a slit throat and apparent disembowelment. Jaime Contreras was arrested and charged with murder in connection with his father’s death.
Following his arrest, Jaime was booked into the El Paso County jail, where his bond was set at $2 million. Authorities continue to investigate the events surrounding Victor Contreras’ death, with Jaime’s mental health and delusions playing a central role in the case.
This tragic incident highlights the potential dangers of untreated mental illness and the severe consequences of delusions, especially when they lead to violent behavior. The case remains under investigation as authorities work to uncover more details about the events leading up to the murder.
