Soldier Never Reported Dead Pregnant Girlfriend Missing, Married Another Woman: Police
A U.S. Army soldier from North Carolina has been arrested in connection with the murder of his pregnant girlfriend, whose body was found months after she disappeared. Tyrique Zavier Leroy Williams, 26, is facing charges of first-degree murder and concealment of death in the killing of 24-year-old Annie Lock. Authorities allege Williams killed Lock in August 2024, disposed of her body in a pond, and then married another woman just two months later. Lock was last seen on August 17 in Fayetteville, but she was not reported missing until October 10. On Sunday, her remains were discovered in an advanced state of decomposition in a pond in Red Springs, about 30 miles from her last known location. She was five weeks pregnant at the time of her disappearance.

Delay in Reporting Raises Questions
Lock’s family told local media that Williams had promised to report her missing but never followed through. According to her sister, Tanya Lock, the family became suspicious when they hadn’t heard from Annie and confronted Williams. “I asked him if detectives had contacted him, and he said, ‘I didn’t file a report,’” Tanya told WTVD. The family then contacted the police themselves, triggering an official missing persons investigation. Officers had previously visited the apartment Annie shared with Williams, but he told them she wasn’t home. Meanwhile, he had allegedly moved on with his life, marrying another woman only two months after Annie vanished.
Arrest at Army Training Base
After months of investigation, the Robeson County Sheriff’s Office located Annie Lock’s body in a pond near Red Springs on April 14, 2025. Just days later, Williams was arrested at Fort Leonard Wood in Missouri, where he was undergoing basic training with the 35th Engineer Battalion. The U.S. Army’s Criminal Investigation Division coordinated his arrest and handed him over to the Pulaski County Sheriff’s Office. Williams, who had arrived at the training facility in mid-March, is now awaiting extradition to North Carolina, where he will face formal charges.
A Family Devastated
The discovery of Lock’s body has devastated her family, who had held out hope for her safe return. Her mother, Tanya Whitehead, spoke through tears about the heartbreaking news. “I found out on my birthday that my child was gone,” she said. “You took someone away from her family. She never did anything wrong.” Neighbors described the couple’s relationship as troubled, with frequent arguments and public altercations. One neighbor said, “They would be outside pushing each other and stuff like that.” Authorities have not yet revealed a cause of death or a motive behind the killing. The investigation remains ongoing as officials work to gather more evidence in the case.
