A Florida man is facing serious charges after allegedly burning his 10-year-old stepdaughter’s hand on a hot stove in what authorities describe as an act of extreme child abuse. The child’s mother was also arrested after learning of the incident and failing to report it to authorities, according to law enforcement. Georgy Almony, 42, was taken into custody on Monday and charged with aggravated child abuse causing great bodily harm. The child’s mother, Milliene Adeclat, 36, was charged with child neglect and aggravated battery on a law enforcement officer after allegedly attacking police during her arrest.

Disturbing Allegations Unfold in Biscayne Gardens

The incident reportedly occurred on Saturday, April 12, 2025, at the family’s home in Biscayne Gardens, an unincorporated area of Miami-Dade County. According to a probable cause affidavit, the 10-year-old girl was home with Almony and her brother while Adeclat was at work. Almony allegedly became enraged after the girl pushed her brother. In response, police say he grabbed the child by the arm, dragged her into the kitchen, and forced her hand onto the stovetop, which was hot enough to burn the skin off her hand, leaving behind a visible coil pattern from the burner. The child reportedly screamed in pain, ran into her bedroom with Almony’s cellphone, and immediately called her mother to report what had happened.

Mother Failed to Act After Abuse Report

Despite being informed of the incident by her daughter, investigators say Adeclat failed to seek help or alert authorities. It wasn’t until the child went to school the following Monday—two days later—that a teacher noticed the injury and contacted the police. Authorities responded and launched an investigation. Both Almony and Adeclat were taken to the Miami-Dade Sheriff’s Intracoastal Station for questioning. Police say Almony refused to speak, while Adeclat denied the abuse ever occurred, even though her daughter had reportedly told her about it immediately after it happened.

Arrests Made; Court Dates Set

Following questioning, both suspects were transported to the Turner Guilford Knight Correctional Center. Almony was booked and later released on $7,500 bond, while Adeclat was released after posting a $1,500 bond. She also faces an additional charge for allegedly pushing and punching police officers during her arrest. Both are scheduled to appear in court on May 14, 2025, as the case proceeds. The condition of the young girl has not been publicly updated, but authorities have confirmed that she suffered serious burn injuries. Child welfare advocates and authorities have expressed concern over the case, highlighting the importance of timely reporting of child abuse and ensuring that those responsible for protecting children are held accountable when they fail to act.
