Unofficial Mayor Killed in Fatal Massachusetts Multi-Vehicle Highway Crash Remembered for Catholic Faith, Volunteering

A tragic multi-vehicle crash on Interstate 93 in Medford claimed the life of a 34-year-old man on Thursday evening, prompting an outpouring of grief from loved ones and members of the community. The victim has been identified as Fredis Seravia-Corvera of Revere, Massachusetts. According to the Massachusetts State Police, the crash occurred just after 6:15 p.m. on the northbound side of I-93, just before Exit 25. Troopers from the Medford Barracks responded to the scene, where they found a chaotic collision involving five vehicles. Preliminary reports suggest that the driver of a Toyota Camry struck four other vehicles. Among them was a Ford F350, which overturned and came to rest in the wooded area adjacent to the roadway. The operator of that vehicle, later identified as Seravia-Corvera, was pronounced dead at the scene.

Following the crash, authorities closed down the northbound lanes of the interstate to manage the scene and allow emergency services to respond. The Collision Analysis and Reconstruction Section, Crime Scene Services Section, Troop A Detectives, and the Troop A Community Action Team have all been involved. Medford Police, Fire, and EMS personnel also assisted at the scene. He worked in landscaping and was actively involved in his church, frequently volunteering at local events and helping those in need. His obituary describes him as a devout Catholic and a devoted husband who embraced community life.

In the wake of his passing, the family has created a GoFundMe fundraiser to help raise funds to return Fredis’ body to El Salvador so he can be laid to rest in his homeland. The campaign has already seen emotional support from many in the local community who remember his generosity and heart.
