Disturbing Details Emerge in Gwinnett County Child Abuse Case

LAWRENCEVILLE, GA — In a harrowing case that has shocked the community, a Gwinnett County man has been indicted on multiple charges after allegedly subjecting his 13-year-old stepdaughter to prolonged and severe abuse. The indictment includes 15 counts of first-degree cruelty to children, four counts of aggravated battery, and one count of aggravated stalking.

Prosecutors allege that Rimmon Lewis forced the girl to eat cat food and drink laundry detergent. She was reportedly locked in a laundry room for extended periods, leading her to urinate and defecate on herself. The indictment also details that Lewis would push his thumbs into the girl’s mouth with such force that it caused bleeding and scarring. Additionally, she was forced to take baths in extremely hot or cold water, sometimes mixed with peroxide or lemon juice.

As a form of punishment, the girl was made to stand barefoot on cans while writing sentences 1,000 times. She was often denied food until these tasks were completed. The abuse came to light when counsellors at the girl’s school noticed bruises and contacted authorities.

Lewis had a prior conviction in 2014 for abusing the same girl, resulting in a sentence of 12 months in prison and 10 years’ probation. He was later sentenced to five years in prison for violating his probation by having contact with the victim, despite a court order prohibiting it.

Angela Strothers, Lewis’s wife, has also been indicted on charges of cruelty to children and aggravated stalking. While she may not have directly participated in the abuse, prosecutors allege she was aware of it and failed to intervene.

The victim is currently in state custody and receiving care. Authorities continue to investigate the case to ensure justice is served.
