DECATUR, GA — In a harrowing case that has shaken the community, 29-year-old Alondra Hobbs has been sentenced to life in prison without the possibility of parole after pleading guilty to the murder of her 7-year-old daughter, Alivia Jordan. The child’s mummified remains were discovered in a closet of a Decatur apartment months after her death.

On June 25, 2023, police responded to a call at the Hidden Valley Apartments on Misty Waters Drive, where they found Alivia’s body strapped in a stroller inside a bedroom closet. Investigators determined that Hobbs had abandoned her special needs daughter, leading to a slow and painful death.

Hobbs entered a non-negotiated guilty plea to charges including malice murder, felony murder, and first-degree cruelty to children. DeKalb County Superior Court Judge LaTisha Dear Jackson handed down the life sentence, emphasising the severity of the crime.

District Attorney Sherry Boston condemned the act as a “slow, painful, and lonely death,” urging parents facing challenges to seek help through resources like FindHelpGA.org.

This tragic case serves as a stark reminder of the importance of community support and vigilance in protecting vulnerable children.
