Trump’s Rare Rebuke: Demands Putin Cease Kyiv Bombardment
In a rare and direct appeal, President Donald Trump publicly urged Russian President Vladimir Putin to cease military attacks on Kyiv after a devastating missile and drone strike killed at least 12 people and injured over 90 in Ukraine’s capital.

Taking to his Truth Social platform, Trump wrote: “I am not happy with the Russian strikes on KYIV. Not necessary, and very bad timing. Vladimir, STOP! 5,000 soldiers a week are dying. Let’s get the Peace Deal DONE!”
The assault, described as the deadliest on Kyiv in 2025, involved over 200 projectiles and targeted multiple districts, including residential areas.
Trump’s message marks a significant shift in his approach to the Russia-Ukraine conflict, as he has previously been criticised for his perceived leniency toward Putin. The president emphasised the urgency of finalising a peace agreement, highlighting the human toll of the ongoing war.
Despite Trump’s call for peace, negotiations have stalled. A U.S.-backed proposal that would recognise Russian sovereignty over Crimea while preserving Ukraine’s independence has been rejected by Kyiv, which demands a full withdrawal of Russian forces and security guarantees.
As the conflict continues, Trump’s administration faces mounting pressure to facilitate a resolution, with the president hinting at potential consequences if progress is not made.
The international community watches closely as efforts to broker peace intensify, hoping for an end to the violence that has claimed thousands of lives.
