This weekend, South Florida’s Regatta Park will host the Crohn’s & Colitis Foundation’s annual Take Steps Walk, a pivotal event aimed at raising awareness and funds for inflammatory bowel disease (IBD) research. Among the participants are three inspiring young individuals who have turned their battles with Crohn’s disease into a mission to educate and advocate.

NBC6’s Sophia Hernandez recently sat down with these honorees, including a senior at the University of Miami, to discuss their journeys and the importance of community support in managing chronic illnesses like Crohn’s. Their stories highlight the resilience and determination of those living with IBD and the critical need for continued research and support.

The Miami Take Steps Walk is scheduled for Saturday, April 26, 2025, at Regatta Park, located at 3500 Pan American Drive. Check-in begins at 9:00 AM, followed by a ribbon ceremony at 10:15 AM. The event offers a family-friendly atmosphere with activities designed to engage participants of all ages, fostering a sense of community and shared purpose.

This walk is part of a series of events organised by the Crohn’s & Colitis Foundation across Southern Florida, including upcoming walks in Fort Lauderdale on May 3, 2025. These events play a vital role in funding research initiatives, supporting patient programs, and ultimately striving toward a cure for IBD.
