Felony Charges Filed Against Man Accused of Child Stalking in Quiet NY Town
A Dutchess County man is facing serious charges after authorities say he stalked a child in Pleasant Valley, alarming the community and prompting swift police action.

According to the Dutchess County Sheriff’s Office, 32-year-old Jason Miller of Wappinger has been arrested and charged with felony stalking after he allegedly followed and attempted to make contact with a minor on multiple occasions. Investigators say the incidents occurred near a local park and school zone, raising heightened concerns for public safety.
Authorities began investigating Miller after receiving a report from the child’s parents, who noticed unusual behaviour and recurring sightings of the man near their neighbourhood. Detectives say Miller did not have any legitimate reason to be in the area and was previously warned to stay away.
Miller is currently being held at the Dutchess County Jail without bail. The case is being prosecuted by the Dutchess County District Attorney’s Office, which has emphasised the seriousness of the charges due to the victim’s age and the potential danger involved.
The Sheriff’s Office commended the child and their family for speaking up and encouraged other parents to talk to their children about what to do if they feel unsafe. Officials have not disclosed whether there are additional victims but say the investigation is ongoing.
