Rain, Thunder, and a Ray of Hope: Your Weekly Weather Breakdown
April 30, 2025 | U.S. Weather Report – Get your umbrellas ready and keep those jackets nearby — this week’s weather across much of the United States promises a mix of heavy rain, thunderstorms, and fleeting moments of sunshine.

A Wet and Wild Start to the Week
A slow-moving system is sweeping across the Midwest and Northeast, bringing consistent rain showers and the potential for severe thunderstorms. Cities like Chicago, Detroit, and Pittsburgh should brace for heavy rainfall through Wednesday, with localised flooding possible in low-lying areas.
In the Southeast, especially Georgia, the Carolinas, and parts of Florida, storms are expected to roll in during the afternoons. These could include gusty winds and lightning, so outdoor activities should be planned carefully.
Thunderstorms Intensify in the Central U.S.
The central Plains and parts of Texas are at moderate risk for severe weather midweek. Meteorologists from the National Weather Service warn of the possibility of hail, strong wind gusts, and isolated tornadoes from Tuesday night into Thursday morning. Oklahoma City, Dallas, and Kansas City are all in the potential impact zone.
Sunshine Returns — Briefly
The skies are expected to clear by the weekend in some areas. The West Coast, including Los Angeles and San Francisco, will see mild temperatures and sunnier skies. The Northeast may enjoy brief sunshine on Saturday, though scattered showers are forecast to return by Sunday.
Looking Ahead
Next week looks a bit more settled for the Northeast and Midwest, but the South may continue dealing with wet weather. Spring allergy sufferers should be aware that tree and grass pollen will remain high in areas with warmer, drier conditions.
