$725 Monthly Checks Are Real — But Only If You Live Here!

So, you’ve probably seen the headlines or TikToks talking about a $725 stimulus payment hitting people’s accounts in May. And like most of us, your first thought was, “Wait… is that real?”

Good news — it is real. But before you get too excited, let’s walk through what it actually is, who qualifies, and when the money’s landing.

What’s This Payment All About?

This isn’t a nationwide thing and it’s not part of a new federal stimulus plan. It’s a local program in Sacramento County, California, called the Family First Economic Support Pilot (FFESP).

The goal? To help low-income families — especially those with young kids — deal with the rising cost of, well, everything. Rent, food, diapers, gas… you name it.

Basically, the program is offering $725 per month to select families for one full year. That adds up to $8,700 in total help. Not too shabby.

Who Actually Gets the $725?

Not everyone’s getting this. You had to apply in April 2025, and only 200 families were picked through a lottery.

Here’s what made someone eligible:

  • You live in Sacramento County — specifically in one of these ZIP codes: 95815, 95821, 95823, 95825, 95828, or 95838.

  • You have at least one kid under age five.

  • Your household income is below 200% of the federal poverty line. That’s under about $62,400 for a family of four.

  • You’re not already getting help from another guaranteed income program.

If you ticked all those boxes and got picked in the lottery — congratulations! You’re in.

When Will You Get Paid?

The first round of payments went out on May 15, 2025.

From there, it’s $725 every month for 12 months — so your last payment would land in May 2026.

If you chose direct deposit, it’ll show up right in your bank account. If not, they’ll be mailing you a check — so make sure your mailing address is current.

Didn’t Get Picked?

If you didn’t apply or weren’t selected, unfortunately, you’re not eligible for this program. But don’t lose hope — these types of programs are starting to pop up in more places. Other cities and counties around the U.S. are testing out guaranteed income plans too.

Keep an eye on your local news or government sites. You never know when the next opportunity might roll out near you.

One Last Thing: Don’t Fall for Scams

If someone messages you saying they can “get you signed up” for this or asks for personal info to release your money — it’s a scam. Only trust info that comes from official government websites.

So yes — the $725 stimulus is very real, but it’s not for everyone, and it’s not a federal deal. It’s a Sacramento-based pilot program meant to support 200 local families over the next year. If you’re one of them, check your bank account (or mailbox) around the 15th of each month.
