Motorcyclist Dies in Fiery Collision with Bus Outside Palm Beach Airport

A motorcyclist is dead following a violent crash involving a Palm Tran bus near Palm Beach International Airport on Tuesday morning, according to the Palm Beach County Sheriff’s Office (PBSO).

The fatal collision occurred just before 7 a.m. at the intersection of Belvedere Road and Australian Avenue, a heavily trafficked area adjacent to the airport’s main entrance. Authorities say the motorcycle was traveling at a high rate of speed when it struck the rear corner of the transit bus, which was in the process of turning.

The male motorcyclist, whose identity has not yet been released pending notification of next of kin, was pronounced dead at the scene. Officials confirmed he was not wearing a helmet at the time of the crash.

The bus driver and several passengers were evaluated by paramedics at the scene. While no serious injuries were reported among those on the bus, at least one passenger was taken to a nearby hospital for observation.

Traffic Disruption and Investigation

The crash shut down traffic for several hours in both directions on Belvedere Road as accident reconstruction teams worked the scene. Airport travellers were advised to use alternate routes and expect delays entering the terminal.

PBSO’s Vehicle Homicide Unit is actively investigating the incident. Speed and driver behaviour are being considered primary factors, though toxicology reports and additional evidence are still pending.

Public Response

Residents and travellers expressed concern over the busy traffic patterns and speed issues in the area surrounding the airport. Some called for increased signage, speed enforcement, and visibility improvements.

Palm Tran issued a statement offering condolences to the victim’s family and confirmed the driver involved will undergo standard post-incident review and testing.
