$1,000 Rent Rebate Could Be Waiting for You — Here’s What You Need to Know NOW!
If rent or property taxes are stressing you out, especially here in Pennsylvania, there’s some good news: the state has this Property Tax/Rent Rebate program that could put up to $1,000 back in your pocket.
Here’s the lowdown on who can get it, how much you might get, and how to apply — all explained in plain English.
Who’s Eligible for This Rebate?
This program is mostly for folks who might need a little extra help covering housing costs — like seniors, people with disabilities, or certain widows and widowers.
Here’s what that looks like:
-
You need to be 65 or older.
-
Or if you’re a widow or widower, you can qualify starting at age 50.
-
If you have a disability, you can apply as long as you’re 18 or older.
On top of that, your household income has to be $46,520 or less per year. The good news? When they figure that out, they don’t count half your Social Security income, which can really help if you rely on it.
So basically, if you’re living on a fixed income or just need some extra support with housing, you could qualify.
How Much Could You Get Back?
It depends on how much you make:
-
If you earn less than $8,270, you could get up to $1,000.
-
Between $8,271 and $15,510, the rebate drops a bit to about $770.
-
From $15,511 to $18,610, you might get around $460.
-
And if your income is between $18,611 and $46,520, you could get up to $380.
Also, if you live in certain cities like Philadelphia, Pittsburgh, or Scranton, there’s a chance for some extra money — an additional rebate that can be anywhere from $190 to $500. So definitely check if your city qualifies!

When Do You Need to Apply?
You have until December 31, 2025, to send in your application. But don’t wait too long — the program starts paying out rebates on July 1, 2025. The sooner you apply, the sooner you get your money.
How Do You Apply?
It’s pretty easy, and you’ve got options:
-
The quickest way is online at myPATH.pa.gov. You can do it from your couch, no stress.
-
If you’re more old-school, you can print out the form from the Department of Revenue’s website, fill it out, and mail it in.
-
Or if you want some help, visit a local office or Area Agency on Aging — they can walk you through it.
If you want to check on your application or have questions, you can call the Department of Revenue at 1-888-222-9190.
Why This Matters
Housing costs are going up everywhere, so getting some money back can really help you keep your home without worrying so much about bills. The program is paid for by the Pennsylvania Lottery and gaming revenue, so it’s basically the state’s way of giving back.
If this sounds like something you or someone you know could use, don’t miss out!
Seriously, don’t wait on this. It’s easy to apply and could make a big difference in your budget this year. If you want help figuring it out or need a checklist of what you need to apply, just let me know. I’m happy to help!
