Florida Gym’s Locker Room Policy Sparks Controversy Over Gender Identity Access
A Palm Beach County woman has filed a complaint with the Florida Attorney General’s Office, alleging that Life Time Fitness in Palm Beach Gardens permits adults to use locker rooms based on their gender identity. Sonja Horton recounted an incident where she encountered a person she identified as a man in the women’s locker room sauna. Upon inquiring about the gym’s policy, Horton was informed by staff that individuals may use facilities aligning with their gender identity.

Life Time Fitness responded, stating that their policies adhere to state and local laws regarding locker room and bathroom use, including access based on gender identity. The company emphasised its commitment to inclusivity and compliance with legal standards.
Florida Attorney General Ashley Moody’s office has acknowledged the complaint and is reviewing the matter. The situation has sparked discussions about the balance between inclusivity and privacy in public facilities.
