$1,702 ‘Stimulus’ in May 2025? Here’s Who’s Actually Getting Paid!

0

You might’ve heard people talking about a $1,702 payment going out in May 2025. Maybe you’re wondering: “Wait… is this another stimulus check? Am I getting one?” Let’s clear things up.

This isn’t some new nationwide stimulus—it’s part of something called the Alaska Permanent Fund Dividend, or PFD. And if you live in Alaska and meet a few requirements, you could very well see that money hit your bank account this week.

First Off… What’s the $1,702 Payment?

Good question. This year’s payout is $1,702 per person, and it’s made up of two parts:

  • $1,403.83 from the main dividend

  • $298.17 as a bonus to help with energy costs (yeah, heating up in Alaska isn’t cheap)

It’s a yearly thing the state does to share oil and gas profits with residents—and yes, even kids can get it if they qualify.

Who’s Getting Paid This Week?

If your application was marked as “Eligible – Not Paid” by May 7, and you submitted it before the March 31 deadline, you’re in luck. Your money should’ve been sent out on May 15, 2025.

That’s it—no tricks, no lottery. Just meeting the requirements and waiting for your turn.

$1,702 ‘Stimulus’ in May 2025? Here’s Who’s Actually Getting Paid!

Wait, Am I Eligible?

Here’s what you needed to check off:

  • Lived in Alaska for all of 2024, and planned to stay long-term

  • Physically stayed in Alaska for at least 72 hours during 2023 or 2024

  • No serious criminal charges—felonies or a bunch of misdemeanors can disqualify you

  • Applied by March 31, 2025

If that’s you, you probably already applied or got help doing it earlier this year. Each person has to apply individually—including children. No family bundles.

Missed the May Payment?

Don’t worry—there’s another wave coming:

  • Next payment date is June 18, 2025

  • You just need to be listed as “Eligible – Not Paid” by June 11

So if your application was still being processed in early May, you could be up next.

What If You Missed the Deadline Altogether?

If you didn’t apply in time this year, you’ll need to wait until next time around. The next application window for the 2026 PFD opens on January 1, 2026, and closes on March 31, 2026.

Mark your calendar. Or better yet—set a reminder on your phone.

What About the Amount Next Year?

The $1,702 figure is specific to 2025. Every year it changes, depending on the state’s oil revenue and what lawmakers decide. Some proposals for next year have ranged from $1,000 to over $3,900, but we won’t know the final number until later.

So, yeah—this isn’t a federal stimulus, but if you’re an Alaskan resident, it’s a pretty decent bonus for just living there and meeting a few rules. Whether it helps you cover bills, stock up for winter, or stash away some savings, it’s a solid boost.

If you’re not sure about your status, you can check it easily at pfd.alaska.gov. And if you’re new to this whole process, don’t stress—just make sure you apply on time next year.
