In a significant development, Taylor Swift has been officially removed from the ongoing legal dispute between actor-director Justin Baldoni and actress Blake Lively. Baldoni’s legal team has withdrawn the subpoena previously issued to Swift, effectively excluding her from testifying in the case.

The legal conflict centers around allegations made by Lively against Baldoni, including claims of sexual harassment, unprofessional conduct, and retaliation during the production of the film It Ends With Us. Baldoni has denied these allegations and filed a $400 million countersuit for defamation and extortion.

Swift’s involvement in the case was minimal; her only connection to the film was the licensing of her song “My Tears Ricochet” for use in the movie’s trailer and one scene. She had no creative involvement in the film’s production and was on a world tour during its filming. Swift’s legal team had previously moved to quash the subpoena, arguing that it was an attempt to exploit her celebrity status rather than a pursuit of relevant legal evidence.

A spokesperson for Lively expressed satisfaction with the withdrawal of the subpoena, labeling it as a harassment tactic exploiting Swift’s prominence. They stated, “We supported the efforts of Taylor’s team to quash these inappropriate subpoenas directed to her counsel, and we will continue to stand up for any third party who is unjustly harassed or threatened in the process.”

The joint trial for both lawsuits is set for March 2026. Swift’s removal from the case allows her to focus on her ongoing projects, including the anticipated release of “Reputation (Taylor’s Version)”.

This development underscores the complexities of high-profile legal disputes and the importance of ensuring that legal proceedings remain focused on relevant evidence rather than the involvement of unrelated third parties.
