Texas SNAP Payments Explained: Why You Won’t See Benefits Between May 19–25
If you’re counting on SNAP benefits in Texas to help with groceries, you might be wondering: “Will I get my payment between May 19 and 25 this year?” The answer is pretty straightforward — Texas actually loads all the May SNAP payments earlier in the month, so no new benefits come in during that week.
How Does the SNAP Payment Schedule Work?
Texas doesn’t just send out all SNAP payments on one day. Instead, they spread them out over several days based on something called an Eligibility Determination Group (EDG) number. Think of it like a little group you’re assigned to, which decides the exact day your benefits get loaded.
For May 2025, all SNAP payments landed between May 4 and May 11, depending on your group:
-
EDG 11-13 got their benefits on May 4
-
EDG 14-17 on May 5
-
EDG 18-20 on May 6
-
EDG 21-24 on May 7
-
EDG 25-27 on May 8
-
EDG 28-31 on May 9
-
EDG 32-34 on May 10
-
EDG 35-38 on May 11
So, if your group number is in there, you probably already have your benefits for May.
What About That May 19-25 Week?
There won’t be any SNAP deposits during that week because Texas sends out benefits once a month, and May’s payments were all done by May 11.
The next time you’ll see money loaded onto your Lone Star Card will be in June — again, based on your EDG group.
Using Your Benefits
Your SNAP benefits are loaded onto your Lone Star Card, which works like a debit card. Once the money is on there, you can use it at grocery stores and other places that accept SNAP — just swipe and go.

No Extra Summer Boost This Year
Some states offer a “Summer EBT” program that gives extra help to families with kids during summer break when school meals aren’t available. Unfortunately, Texas isn’t doing that in 2025, so no extra SNAP benefits are coming this summer.
