Sheinelle Jones’ Husband Dies at 45: A Heartbreaking Loss for the ‘Today’ Show Family
Sheinelle Jones, co-host of NBC’s “Today” show, is grieving the loss of her husband, Uche Ojeh, who passed away at the age of 45 following a courageous battle with glioblastoma, an aggressive form of brain cancer.

The couple’s love story began at Northwestern University, where they met as students. Jones once recounted their first meeting, saying she pretended to be a tour guide to spend time with him. They married in 2007 and shared 17 years together, raising three children: 15-year-old Kayin and 12-year-old twins Clara and Uche.
Ojeh was a managing partner at UAO Consulting and was known for his deep faith, love for soccer, and dedication to his family. He took pride in teaching their children about their Nigerian heritage, often dressing the family in traditional attire for special occasions.
Jones had taken a leave of absence from the “Today” show in December 2024 to focus on a family health matter, which was later revealed to be related to her husband’s illness.
On May 23, Jones shared a message on Instagram expressing gratitude for the outpouring of support: “Thank you, for all of your love and support. ❤️”
During the May 23 broadcast of “Today,” co-host Savannah Guthrie announced Ojeh’s passing, stating, “With profound sadness, we share this morning that Uche Ojeh, the husband of our dear friend and Today cohost Sheinelle Jones, has passed away after a courageous battle with an aggressive form of brain cancer called glioblastoma.”
Colleagues remembered Ojeh as a devoted father and loving husband. Craig Melvin, a close friend, remarked, “He was that dad that was on the sideline at every soccer game. He was at all the concerts, the recitals. He was that guy.”
The “Today” show team paid tribute to Ojeh’s life and legacy, highlighting his joyful spirit and the strength he and Jones displayed throughout his illness.
