Texas SNAP Recipients: Don’t Miss These Important Payment Dates in Late May 2025!

0

Hey, if you’re getting SNAP benefits in Texas or know someone who is, here’s the scoop on payments for the last week of May 2025. SNAP helps a ton of folks with food each month, but Texas doesn’t pay everyone all at once — they spread it out over several days based on a number you get called the Eligibility Determination Group (EDG).

How Do They Decide When You Get Paid?

It’s all about your EDG number. Your payment day depends on the last two digits of that number:

  • If your number ends in 35 to 38, you got your money on May 26.

  • If it ends in 39 to 41, May 27 was your payday.

  • And if it ends in 42 to 45 or 96 to 99, you saw that money hit your account on May 28.

If your number’s not in those groups, you probably got paid earlier in the month. Texas spreads payments out like this so things don’t get jammed up and everyone gets their benefits smoothly.

How Much Money Are We Talking About?

What you get depends on how many people live with you:

  • If you live alone, the max is about $292 a month.

  • If you have a big family — like eight people — that can go up to around $1,756 a month.

They update these numbers each year so your benefits keep up with how much groceries actually cost.

What Else Should You Know?

  • Back in April 2025, Texas gave out a special $120 per kid boost because food prices have been crazy lately. That was a nice help for a lot of families.

  • Starting June 2025, the Summer EBT program kicks in to help kids get extra food support when school’s out and they can’t get free meals at school.

Want To Check Your Payment Date or Amount?

You can easily check when you’ll get your money and how much by visiting the Texas Health and Human Services website or using their “Your Texas Benefits” app. It’s super handy and saves a lot of guesswork.

Why Does This Matter?

SNAP isn’t just money — it’s food security for millions of Texans. Knowing when your benefits arrive helps you plan better so you can feed your family without stressing.

If you haven’t signed up yet or want to see if you qualify, it’s definitely worth looking into. The process is pretty simple, and every bit helps.
