Chicago, IL — A 20-year-old man is in critical condition following a stabbing that occurred early Tuesday morning in Chicago’s Streeterville neighborhood. The incident unfolded around 1:35 a.m. in the 200 block of East Illinois Street, according to Chicago police.

Altercation Escalates to Violence

The victim was walking with a group when they were approached by another group, leading to a verbal altercation. During the confrontation, a male suspect from the second group produced a sharp object, damaged a female victim’s vehicle, and subsequently stabbed the 20-year-old man in the lower abdomen. The suspect fled the scene and is currently not in custody.

Ongoing Investigation

The victim was transported to Northwestern Memorial Hospital, where he remains in critical condition. Area Three detectives are actively investigating the incident.

Authorities are urging anyone with information about the incident to come forward to assist in the investigation.
