A Morning of Chaos

The rampage began around 7:15 a.m. on westbound Interstate 635, near the Greenville Avenue and Forest Lane exits. Moreno allegedly sideswiped several vehicles, including an 18-wheeler, disabling his own car. When other drivers stopped to assess the damage, Moreno retrieved an 8-inch fixed-blade knife from his trunk and began attacking them.

One victim was stabbed multiple times, while others were assaulted as Moreno commandeered their vehicles. He reportedly hijacked a Texas Department of Transportation (TxDOT) truck and struck a TxDOT worker. Subsequently, he stole a health professional’s car, running her over and dragging her across two lanes of traffic.

Community Response and Arrest

Bystanders, including construction workers and other motorists, intervened to subdue Moreno. They managed to pin him down until law enforcement arrived. Moreno was arrested and charged with aggravated assault, unauthorized use of a vehicle, and criminal mischief.

Aftermath and Ongoing Investigation

The incident has sparked widespread concern about public safety and the potential for such violent outbursts. Authorities are investigating Moreno’s motives and whether any underlying factors contributed to his actions. The community continues to grapple with the trauma inflicted by the morning’s events.

As the legal process unfolds, residents and officials alike are seeking answers and measures to prevent similar tragedies in the future.
