Telenovela Star Pedro Moreno Off the Hook After Domestic Dispute
MIAMI–Dade County courts have dismissed charges against Cuban-American actor Pedro Moreno, known for roles in hits like El Rostro de Analía and Me declaro culpable.

Moreno, 44, was arrested in May following a late-night argument with his wife, Barbara Estevez, amid their ongoing divorce. The conflict began when Moreno searched through his wife’s cellphone and initially refused to return it, prompting her to call the police. Their 17-year-old daughter witnessed the incident and also spoke with investigators.
He was initially charged with “strong-arm robbery,” but the judge found no probable cause for that count—only battery—and Barbara Moreno later asked prosecutors to drop the case. The couple’s daughter also declined to provide a clear statement because “it was all a blur,” according to court records.
With no cooperation from the key witnesses and no visible injuries reported, the state said it could not meet its burden of proof and officially dropped all charges.
At his arraignment on Friday, Moreno flashed a brief salute to journalists and expressed gratitude as the judge confirmed the case was dismissed. He also inquired about lifting restrictions on his Global Entry travel privileges, but the judge advised him to obtain formal documentation confirming the case’s dismissal before petitioning for reinstatement.
Barbara Moreno has publicly stood by her husband, saying he “was never violent,” and that she never expected him to be arrested over what was, in her view, a private marital disagreement .
For now, Moreno’s record remains clear, and he continues his international acting career, which frequently takes him between Miami and Mexico.
