One of the most anticipated events, the Fall River Symphony Orchestra’s performance at Norton City Pier, has been moved from Saturday night to Sunday, June 15, from 6:30 to 9:30 p.m. Organizers say the rescheduled date offers a better chance for clear skies and a dry, enjoyable evening of music.

The city’s Pop-Up Clean-Up, originally planned for Saturday morning near Pleasant and Flint Streets, will now take place on June 28 from 8 to 10 a.m. Volunteers are still encouraged to sign up in advance, and the city will provide tools and supplies. This initiative is part of Fall River’s larger effort to revitalize neighborhoods through citizen involvement.

Another big event affected is the Kick-Off to Summer celebration and 3-on-3 Basketball Tournament at Ruggles Park. Hosted by Greater Fall River RE-CREATION, the family-friendly event has been shifted to Friday, June 20, starting at 4:30 p.m. All the fun remains the same — bounce houses, face painting, rock climbing, food, and games — and it’s all free to the public.

The city is facing a rainy Saturday, with temperatures hovering around the mid-60s. Light rain and drizzle, along with smoke drifting from Canadian wildfires, are expected to create poor air quality and slippery outdoor conditions. Sunday and next weekend promise clearer skies, making them ideal for the rescheduled events.

Fall River officials urge residents to spread the word about the changes and to plan ahead. The good news? There’s still plenty of summer ahead, and the city’s spirit remains strong — just slightly delayed by the weather.
