Bell made his debut as the jovial “Big Hawaiian Dude” in the film, which premiered May 23. Just two weeks earlier, he had treated his family to a special opening-night screening in Kapolei. His sister, Jalene Kanani Bell, shared a heartfelt Facebook tribute describing him as “generous, talented, funny, brilliant and handsome,” and a “bright and shining star”.

Before his Disney debut, Bell appeared in television series such as Magnum P.I. and Hawaii Five-0. He also worked at Kona International Airport, where many travelers recognize his friendly voice announcing flights. His agent remembered him as a “gentle giant” who embodied the spirit of aloha.

Hawai‘i authorities confirmed an autopsy and coroner’s inquest are underway, but they’ve ruled out foul play. The exact cause of death remains pending.
