Unidentified Man Found Dead in Golden Gate Park Bathroom, Medical Examiner Seeks Public’s Help
A troubling discovery in Golden Gate Park has prompted a rare public plea for clues. On May 12, park officials found an unidentified man unresponsive inside a restroom near Martin Luther King Jr. Drive and 19th Avenue. Emergency responders pronounced him dead at the scene.

The San Francisco Office of the Chief Medical Examiner says this is an unusual case—most decedents are identified within 24 hours using ID cards, fingerprints, interviews, or DNA. But this man remains a mystery. Described as white or possibly Hispanic, approximately 30 years old, with brown hair and eyes, he stood 5’9″ tall and weighed around 157 pounds. A distinctive cross tattoo on his right cheekbone is featured in the released sketch.
Authorities have not yet determined his cause or manner of death. They hope someone will recognize the tattoo or facial features and help give him a name. Anyone with information is urged to contact the Medical Examiner’s office.
