Colorado Man Accused of Trying to Kidnap 8-Year-Old Girl Twice at Grocery Store
Littleton, CO — June 21, 2025 — What began as a simple trip to the grocery store quickly turned into a nightmare for a grandmother and her 8-year-old granddaughter when a man allegedly tried to abduct the child — not once, but twice — inside a Safeway store in Littleton.

According to the Jefferson County Sheriff’s Office, 34-year-old Bradley Mikel Wilson approached the pair in the produce section. Without warning, he looked at the grandmother and chillingly asked, “May I borrow your child?” Then, he grabbed the young girl by the shoulder and tried to walk away with her.
In that split second, the grandmother’s instincts kicked in. She grabbed her granddaughter and shouted, startling Wilson enough for the girl to break free and run. It could have ended there — but minutes later, he came back.
Deputies say Wilson returned to the store, this time walking directly toward the same child again. But store staff had already been alerted. They quickly stepped in, shouting and confronting him before he could get any closer. Wilson left a second time — but this time, the police were not far behind.
He was arrested shortly afterward near Highway 285 and Willow Springs Road. Authorities say Wilson didn’t resist and was taken into custody without incident. He now faces a charge of second-degree attempted kidnapping.
Miraculously, the young girl was physically unharmed — but the emotional toll on her and her grandmother is real and lasting.
“She was shaking, just holding onto me,” a witness recalled. “That grandma never let go. She saved that little girl’s life.”
The sheriff’s office praised the grandmother’s fast reaction and credited the Safeway staff for helping prevent a tragedy. Officials are urging families to stay alert, even in familiar places like grocery stores.
“This could’ve gone very differently,” said Sheriff’s spokesperson Jacki Kelley. “Because of one grandmother’s courage and a community that paid attention, that little girl is home safe.”
