Today, girls are not safe in any corner of the country. Recently, a similar news has come from South Florida. On Wednesday, 25 June 2025, officials said that a high school basketball coach from South Florida has arrested a girl on charges of having a romantic relationship.

According to the arrest report by the Palm Beach Sheriff’s Office, the 17 years old victim girl has claimed that from August 2022 to May 2024, Charles Keith McCary, a teacher and basketball coach at Olympic Heights High School in Boca Raton, used to have romantic conversations with her and touch her inappropriately.

Police said the incidents with the girl occurred 15 to 20 times over a two-year period in his classroom and his office.

MacKrey first met the girl in his classroom, where he told the students they could become basketball managers for the basketball team he coached.

MacKrey took the numbers of all the girls who were interested in the position. After that, MacKrey began texting one girl separately.

The principal of Olympic Heights High School confirmed in an email to school girls and their parents on Wednesday that McCray had not been employed by the school district for more than a year.

“The District holds all employees to the highest standards of conduct and is committed to a safe learning environment for all students,” Olympic Heights High School Principal Kelly Mills Burke said. “We expect every staff member to meet the professional and ethical standards necessary to ensure the safety of students and community members, and to provide the best possible educational experience.”

“The safety and well-being of our students is my highest priority.”

Mackrey is currently being held in Palm Beach County Jail without bail. The judge set Mackrey’s bail at $25,000.
