Karmelo Sincere Anthony, 18, was indicted by a Collin County grand jury for the killing of 17-year-old Austin Metcalf. The stabbing happened on April 2 at Kuykendall Stadium in Frisco, Texas, during a multi-school track and field event.

According to investigators, Anthony was sitting inside a tent reserved for Metcalf’s team. Witnesses say Metcalf asked him to leave. When Anthony refused, the two exchanged words. The situation escalated quickly when Anthony allegedly warned, “Touch me and see what happens.” Moments later, as Metcalf reportedly reached toward him, Anthony pulled out a knife and stabbed him in the chest.

The entire incident unfolded in seconds. Metcalf stumbled away and collapsed nearby, dying in the arms of his twin brother, Hunter. Medics were unable to save him.

Anthony was arrested at the scene and reportedly told officers, “I did it.” He claimed he acted in self-defense. He has since been released on $250,000 bail and is required to wear an ankle monitor while awaiting trial. If convicted, he could face life in prison.

Austin’s family, still grieving, says the indictment is a step toward justice. “It won’t bring Austin back, but we believe the truth will come out,” said his father, Jeff Metcalf. “We’re hurting, but we know justice will be served.”

District Attorney Greg Willis called the case “deeply disturbing” and assured the public that the investigation is being handled with care and seriousness. Anthony’s defense team maintains that he was protecting himself and looks forward to presenting their case in court.

No trial date has been set yet.
