Grisly Capture: Alleged ‘Machete Man’ Serial Killer of Homeless Found in House of Body Parts – ARREST MADE IN LOS ANGELES
South Central Los Angeles (90003) – A horrifying investigation has rocked Los Angeles County as authorities have arrested a man suspected of being the elusive “Machete Man,” a serial killer who allegedly targeted homeless individuals across Southern California. The suspect, identified as Tyrell Hames, 36, was apprehended late Tuesday night at a South Central L.A. residence where police discovered a house of horrors filled with human remains.

Authorities say Hames has been linked to at least six murders dating back to early 2024, with all victims believed to be homeless individuals lured or ambushed in vulnerable encampments. The break in the case came after DNA evidence from a severed limb found in Griffith Park matched one of the long-missing victims.
When SWAT officers raided Hames’s home near Slauson Avenue, they reportedly uncovered coolers, tubs, and garbage bags filled with decomposing body parts. Forensic teams are still working to identify all the remains.
Police say Hames used a machete in the majority of the killings, earning him the gruesome nickname circulating among unhoused communities and social media. Officials described the scene as “unlike anything we’ve encountered in recent memory.”
The suspect is now in custody at the Twin Towers Correctional Facility without bail. A mental health evaluation is underway.
