Winter Weather Advisory Issued for Northwestern Pennsylvania: Snow and High Winds Expected

0

Erie, PA – Northwestern Pennsylvania is preparing for a wintry mix of snow and high winds as a Winter Weather Advisory takes effect from 7 p.m. Monday until 10 a.m. Tuesday. The advisory covers Erie and Crawford Counties, including the cities of Erie, Edinboro, and Meadville, as well as surrounding areas.

According to the National Weather Service, snow accumulations are expected to range from 3 to 5 inches, with the heaviest snowfall occurring overnight. In addition to the snow, winds are expected to gust up to 50 mph, which could lead to hazardous road conditions, particularly on bridges and overpasses. The gusty winds may also cause downed tree branches and power outages in some areas.

Travel conditions are expected to be most challenging during the Tuesday morning commute, with reduced visibility and slippery roadways. Drivers are urged to use caution, slow down, and allow extra time for travel. Motorists should also be aware of the potential for flying debris and the possibility of power disruptions.

The National Weather Service is advising residents to stay up to date with weather forecasts, monitor local road conditions, and be prepared for winter driving challenges. If you plan to be out on the roads, it’s important to check your vehicle’s winter readiness, ensure you have an emergency kit on hand, and drive with caution in these wintry conditions.
