Driver caught doing donuts on live TV at site of triple fatal crash in Hialeah
Almost a year after a careless driver killed three ladies in a very residential area of Hialeah, locals are still having to deal with risky street behavior including speeding, driving too fast, and ignoring stop signs. People who live close to the intersection of Southeast 5th Avenue and Southeast 4th Street told NBC6 that they occasionally hear and see automobiles doing donuts throughout the day or night. “In the middle of the night, that automobile arrives and does donuts. “It’s really alarming,” said Karen Monjado, a local resident. While the news crew was providing an update on the triple fatal crash that happened at the same time on Friday, our sister station Telemundo 51 captured the moment a red car started spinning and doing donuts intersection in April of 2024.
“Cars are always speeding around here. Jackeline Coiza, another resident who insisted that the issue be resolved, added, “There are also only two stop signs.” Maykoll Santiesteban, then 15 years old, was on a joyride with pals in April when he smashed his parents’ SUV while exceeding 80 mph in a 30 mph zone. He killed three women in the car he collided with. On the day of the collision, Yarina Garcia Hernandez, 39, and her aunt, Gloria Hernandez Molina, 71, perished.

Liliana Hernandez Molina, 66, Hernandez Molina’s sister and Garcia Hernandez’s mother, suffered terrible injuries and lost her life after five months of battle. A fatal collision occurred in Hialeah involving Liliana Hernandez Molina and her daughter Yarina Garcia Hernandez. Santiesteban accepted responsibility for the fatal collision and entered a guilty plea on Friday. The 16-year-old is still in jail awaiting punishment, which could result in decades behind bars. The City of Hialeah is developing a strategy to remedy the hazardous conditions close to Southeast 5th Avenue and Southeast 4th Street, Miami-Dade Commissioner Rene Garcia told NBC6 in response to the collision.
“Because of this accident, we are now, the city of Hialeah, because I am on the county, the city of Hialeah is redoing the roads in that area and will be putting medians on the side which will make it harder for people to do donuts in that area,” Garcia stated. Garcia did not provide specific details on the plan or when residents could see the changes play out, but mentioned the medians could be placed in the upcoming months.
