DUNLAP, TENN. – A Tennessee man is facing murder charges after allegedly stabbing an 18-year-old to death upon finding him in bed with his wife.
According to authorities, 41-year-old Jonathan Belk returned home unexpectedly on the morning of March 8 and was met with a shocking sight, his 31-year-old wife, Jada Gholston, in bed with Billy J. Floyd, an 18-year-old who had just recently reached adulthood.
Overcome with rage, Belk reportedly grabbed a knife and attacked the young man. His wife also suffered injuries during the violent outburst.
A Brutal Aftermath
Investigators say Belk then attempted to dispose of Floyd’s body by placing him inside a trash can. When police arrived at the scene, they found the victim’s lifeless body curled up in a fetal position.
Belk was reportedly standing at the doorway, covered in blood, when officers took him into custody. Gholston, though injured, survived the attack and was rushed to a hospital for treatment.
Chilling Confession
During police questioning, Belk allegedly admitted to the crime and seemed more concerned about his marriage than the fact that he had taken a life.
“I am worried about my relationship with my wife because I offed him,” Belk reportedly told authorities.
Who Was Billy J. Floyd?
The victim, Billy J. Floyd, had turned 18 just three days before his tragic death. He was described as a kind and adventurous young man who loved the outdoors, hunting, and fishing. His grieving family has launched a GoFundMe page to help cover funeral expenses.
Legal Consequences & Community Reaction
Belk is now facing serious criminal homicide charges. Authorities have not disclosed if he has secured legal representation, and the case is still under investigation.
The Dunlap community remains in shock over the tragic turn of events. Many are mourning Floyd’s loss, while others are left questioning how such a situation could escalate to deadly violence.
While crimes of passion like this are not unheard of, legal experts warn that infidelity does not justify murder in the eyes of the law. The court will ultimately decide Belk’s fate, but for now, a young life has been lost, and multiple families are left devastated.
