Two Pedestrians Left Fighting for Their Lives After Shocking San Jose Car Crashes

Two pedestrians were left with life-threatening injuries after being struck by vehicles in separate incidents across San Jose this week, highlighting ongoing concerns about pedestrian safety in the city.

Crash Involving Stolen Vehicle Leaves Two Injured

The first incident occurred early on the morning of March 22, when deputies from the Santa Clara County Sheriff’s Office spotted a silver Infiniti near King and Mabury roads around 2:19 a.m. Deputies attempted to initiate a traffic stop, but the driver fled, prompting a short pursuit before deputies called it off. Moments later, the Infiniti collided with a Ford Fusion at the intersection of McKee Road and North Jackson Avenue.

The crash left six people injured, including two passengers in the Infiniti, who sustained life-threatening injuries. The other four victims involved in the crash were hospitalized with less severe injuries. Authorities have yet to release additional details, and the crash is under joint investigation by the San Jose Police Department and the Santa Clara County Sheriff’s Office.

Second Fatal Pedestrian Incident on March 24

Just two days later, on March 24, a man tragically lost his life after being struck by a vehicle while crossing near the intersection of Almaden Expressway and Ironwood Drive around 10:16 p.m. The driver of a 2009 red Kia sedan remained at the scene and cooperated with law enforcement, and initial investigations indicate that alcohol and drugs were not factors in the crash.

This incident marks the seventh fatal collision in San Jose this year, with five of the fatalities involving pedestrians. Tragically, pedestrian accidents have become a growing concern in the city. The tragic death brings attention to the rising number of pedestrian fatalities in San Jose, which saw 19 such fatalities last year, out of a total of 48 traffic-related deaths.
