Fatal Gunfire Erupts in Port St. Lucie Neighborhood—One Dead, One Arrested

A fatal shooting occurred in Port St. Lucie on Tuesday afternoon, leaving one man dead and another in police custody. The incident took place near the intersection of Southeast Bolton Avenue and Southeast Delano Road. According to Port St. Lucie Police Chief Leo Niemczyk, officers arrived at the scene around 4:25 p.m. to find active gunfire. The confrontation reportedly began inside a residence between the suspect and two roommates before spilling onto the street.

A drone operator assisting the police located the victim lying on the driveway of a neighbouring house. The man was transported to St. Lucie Medical Centre, where he was pronounced dead. The suspect, whose identity has not been released, surrendered to officers without incident and is currently in custody. He sustained no injuries during the altercation.

Chief Niemczyk noted that there is a “little bit of history” at the residence but did not provide further details. Multiple individuals were handcuffed at the scene; however, they are not believed to be suspects. The investigation is ongoing as authorities work to determine the circumstances leading up to the shooting.
