ROLL TIDE: Alabama Punches Ticket to Super Regionals After Crushing Virginia Tech
The Alabama Crimson Tide are headed to the NCAA Super Regionals after a commanding 7-3 win over Virginia Tech in the regional championship on Sunday evening. With their bats hot and pitching sharp, Alabama secured their spot among the final 16 teams vying for a trip to the College World Series.

Led by standout performances from sophomore slugger Tyler McMillan, who drove in three RBIs, and ace Grayson Keller, who pitched six strong innings with eight strikeouts, the Crimson Tide took control early and never looked back. Keller kept Virginia Tech’s offense in check, while Alabama’s aggressive approach at the plate built an early 5-1 lead by the fourth inning.
“It feels amazing,” said head coach Brad Bohannon after the game. “This group has shown resilience all season, and to see them come together like this on a big stage means everything.”
Alabama’s bullpen held strong in the final three innings, with closer Ryan Caldwell shutting the door in the ninth with back-to-back strikeouts to seal the win. The crowd at Sewell-Thomas Stadium erupted as the Tide celebrated their first Super Regional berth since 2021.
Virginia Tech struggled to find momentum, leaving 10 runners on base and committing two costly errors that extended Alabama’s scoring innings.
The Crimson Tide will now prepare to face the winner of the Austin Regional in next weekend’s best-of-three Super Regional series. The stakes are high, with a trip to Omaha for the College World Series on the line.
