Justin Bieber’s Lavish Spending & Tour Chaos Leave Him Deep in Debt
Pop music icon Justin Bieber is facing a wave of financial troubles, according to recent reports, including an $8.8 million debt owed to his former longtime manager, Scooter Braun. Despite raking in hundreds of millions during his meteoric rise to fame, Bieber’s financial stability appears to be on shaky ground following tour cancellations, lawsuits, and an expensive lifestyle.

The root of the issue dates back to Bieber’s Justice World Tour, which was abruptly canceled in 2022 due to his health concerns. The cancellation reportedly left Bieber on the hook for nearly $24 million to promoter AEG. To keep things afloat, Braun allegedly stepped in to cover the debt. Now, Bieber is reportedly struggling to repay Braun, having made just one installment since the agreement was put in place.
A PricewaterhouseCoopers audit later determined that Bieber still owes Braun approximately $8.8 million, primarily tied to unpaid commissions and reimbursable expenses. This audit directly contradicts earlier claims by Bieber’s legal team that Braun had been overpaid during his management tenure.
In an effort to stabilize his finances, Bieber sold the rights to his entire music catalog in 2022 for an estimated $200 million to Hipgnosis Songs Capital. While it was a major move, insiders revealed through the recent TMZ Investigates documentary that the sale was rushed—possibly due to urgent financial needs and liquidity issues. Advisers had reportedly urged Bieber to wait for better tax terms, but the pressure to cover debts appears to have taken precedence.
The documentary also revealed that Bieber’s lavish lifestyle, which included frequent use of private jets and costly real estate ventures, may have contributed to his financial strain. Compounding the problem, Bieber has not released a new album since 2021 and has pulled back from performing.
Those close to him have expressed concern over his well-being, with social media posts sparking speculation about his mental and emotional health. Meanwhile, his wife Hailey Bieber has reportedly taken on the role of financial anchor in their household, with her skincare line Rhode thriving as Justin’s career hits a pause.
As fans and industry insiders await more clarity, Bieber’s team has not publicly commented on the full extent of the financial dispute or whether he plans to return to the spotlight anytime soon.
