The elderly woman was rushed to Sky Ridge Medical Center on May 9 after staff at Orchard Park Health Care Center called 911. According to hospital officials, the injuries raised immediate concern—they were not consistent with any reported fall or accident. The woman was in visible pain, screaming when paramedics arrived.

Investigators from the Arapahoe County Sheriff’s Office were called in after medical staff found the fractures suspicious. The nursing facility claimed the patient was simply found sitting in her wheelchair in pain, but deputies quickly grew skeptical. The timeline and staff explanations didn’t add up.

After a month-long investigation, authorities identified the caregiver involved as Patience Jackson, who was on duty at the time of the incident. Police say Jackson likely caused the injuries on May 8, then failed to report them honestly. She was arrested on June 11 at her home and booked into the Arapahoe County Detention Facility on a $2,500 bond. Jackson is facing three felony charges: criminal negligence, crimes against an at-risk adult, and being complicit in the abuse.

But she’s not the only one in trouble. A second caregiver, licensed practical nurse Zainab Namale, is also under investigation. A warrant has been issued for her arrest, and she remains at large.

This incident has sparked outrage and renewed concern about how the elderly are treated in long-term care facilities. Officials are urging families to ask questions, stay alert, and report anything suspicious. Jackson is expected to appear in court soon.
