Florida Keys Tragedy: Drunk Boater Arrested After Crash Kills Woman

A few months ago, a woman died in a boat crash in Florida Keys. Recently, police told that the boat driver was intoxicated, who has been arrested.

Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission officials said- The boat driver has been identified as 61 years old Guy Russell Erdman. Who has been arrested on Wednesday, 25 June 2025 on charges of driving a boat under the intoxication, murder and six other crimes.

Police told that this incident happened on 27 Dec 2024. That day Guy Russell Erdman was driving a 21-foot center console vessel with three passengers from Buttonwood Sound. While the boat was sailing, Erdman’s boat collided with an anchored boat, after which Erdman, along with three passengers, fell out of the boat.

People nearby rescued Erdman and two passengers, but could not rescue the third passenger. The body of the third passenger was found dead in the water. The deceased passenger was identified as 24-year-old Sidney A. Cole of North Carolina.

Police said boat owner Erdman had been drinking alcohol before the incident. Toxicology results also showed that Erdman’s blood alcohol level was nearly twice the legal limit in Florida.
