Investigators are asking the public to assist them in making an arrest after an 11-year-old kid was shot in the head and murdered in broad daylight in a Minneapolis park, according to police.

According to Minneapolis police, the gunshots started near Folwell Park at 2:00 p.m. on Monday. According to authorities, witnesses reported seeing two automobiles drive through the nearby parking lot and one car drive through the park when the gunshots were heard.

The 11-year-old was declared dead at the scene, according to police, despite the efforts of fire, police, and emergency medical services. The coroner’s office recognized him as Amir Lamar Atkins.

“I cannot emphasize enough how terrible it is to have an 11-year-old boy shot and killed in the middle of the day,” Minneapolis Police Chief Brian O’Hara said in a statement.
