Third Teen Arrested for Making Threats of Violence at South Florida Schools; Cops Warn All Threats Taken Seriously, Thoroughly Investigated

Cypress Bay High School is located in Weston Florida, approximately 5 miles west of Fort Lauderdale, at 18600 Vista Park Blvd. This is the third teen arrested since Thursday for making a threat of violence at a school. All threats are taken very seriously and will be thoroughly investigated.

WESTON, FL – Broward Sheriff’s Office Weston deputies, working with investigators from the Threat Management Unit and the Real Time Crime Center, have arrested a 16-year-old male for threats of violence made Friday and Monday to Cypress Bay High School in Weston. 

According to police, the school was placed on a “code red” Friday, December 6, after school employees received texts and emails warning there would be a shooting at the school. The school was thoroughly searched as detectives followed leads in an attempt to identify the sender. 

On Monday, December 9, the threats continued as faculty and students received more threatening messages, causing the school to be placed on “code yellow.”

Cypress Bay High School is located in Weston Florida, approximately 5 miles west of Fort Lauderdale, at 18600 Vista Park Blvd, Weston, FL 33332.

Through the investigation, detectives were able to arrest a male who is a junior at Cypress Bay High School. He’s being transported to the Juvenile Assessment Center to face two counts for making a false report concerning the use of a firearm and two counts for writing threats to kill. 

This is the third teen arrested since Thursday for making a threat of violence at a school. All threats are taken very seriously and will be thoroughly investigated.

Charges are accusations and defendants are presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
