HOLLYWOOD, FL – Broward Sheriff’s Office traffic homicide detectives are investigating a crash involving an off-road dirt bike and a car that left a Miramar man dead over the weekend.
According to police, on Saturday at approximately 6:05 p.m., Jerameel Muniz, 19, was traveling westbound on Southwest 23rd Street on a Yamaha dirt bike at a high rate of speed approaching the intersection of Southwest 56th Avenue. Trevis Palmer was traveling southbound on Southwest 56th Avenue in a Dodge Caravan approaching the intersection of Southwest 23rd Street when Muniz failed to adhere to the posted stop sign. Both vehicles entered the intersection at the same time, colliding with each other while Muniz was ejected from his off-road dirt bike.
Broward Sheriff Fire Rescue responded to the scene and transported Muniz to Memorial Regional Hospital in Hollywood where he was later pronounced deceased. The driver and passenger of the Dodge Caravan remained on the scene and cooperated with detectives.
The traffic homicide investigation is ongoing.
