UPDATE: Four Students Hospitalized After Vehicle Drives Over Sidewalk at School Bus Stop In Royal Palm Beach

Four students were taken to local hospitals for treatment after a vehicle drove up on a sidewalk and struck four students waiting for a school bus.

UPDATE APRIL 6, 2022, 6:18 PM: On Wednesday, April 6, 2022, Angel Lopez, 57, was arrested and charged with two counts of DUI Manslaughter, two counts of Vehicular Homicide, DUI Serious Bodily Injury, one DUI Injury, Reckless Driving Serious Bodily Injury, and Reckless Driving Injury. Lopez was booked into the Palm Beach County Jail without incident.

ROYAL PALM BEACH, FL – Shortly before 7:00 am on Tuesday, March 22, 2022, Palm Beach County Sheriff’s deputies responded to a vehicle crash on Crestwood Blvd and Cypress Lake Drive in Royal Palm Beach. Upon arrival, deputies learned a vehicle driving northbound on Crestwood Blvd lost control, drove up on a sidewalk and struck four students waiting for a school bus.

The four students were taken to local hospitals for treatment. Two of the children were listed in serious condition. According to a criminal investigation report, the driver of the vehicle involved, Angel Antonio Lopez, 57, of Royal Palm Beach, received minor injuries during the collision and refused medical attention.

UPDATE: Sadly, on March 23, 2022 at approximately 2:30 am, the Palm Beach County Sheriff’s Office confirmed that a female juvenile was pronounced deceased as a result of injuries sustained from the collision. No additional information is available at this time.

UPDATE: On March 25, 2022 a second child was pronounced deceased as a result of his injuries sustained from the collision. The boy was pronounced deceased at St Mary’s Medical Center on the 25th. Media was notified today, Mar 28, 2022, 2:14 PM.
