Florida Brothers, Ages 11 and 14, Arrested for Stealing 22 Firearms, Ammo from Gun Store in Cape Coral

CAPE CORAL, FL – Two Florida brothers – shockingly aged only 11 and 14 – have been arrested for allegedly breaking into a gun store and making off with an arsenal of 22 firearms and ammunition, according to police.

The two minors entered Guns 4 Less in Cape Coral around 3 a.m. Wednesday by breaking in through the back door after previously attempting to cut power lines leading to the building; once inside, they smashed open glass display cases and began looting multiple firearms, including an AR-15 pistol, cops say.

While carrying out their rampage inside the store, the two brothers set off a silent alarm that Cape Coral police immediately responded to; upon arriving at the scene, officers said they observed the two misbegotten youths fleeing from the store “armed with multiple handguns, ammunition, magazines and long guns.”

While being pursued by police, the two children began dropping their pile of guns and ammo due to its immense weight, and then took off in opposite directions in an attempt to elude capture. Both brothers were captured and taken into custody.

All of the stolen guns and ammo were recovered. The owner of the gun store told police that the two brothers had previously entered the store during business hours and were told to leave.

Julie Green confirmed that the boys were facing a plethora of charges in connection with the incident, including 22 counts of grand theft of a firearm, one count of armed burglary, one count of criminal mischief, and one count of resisting without violence.

In addition, the 14 year-old is also charged with violating his probation in connection with a prior armed robbery charge.

The Published Reporter is not naming the suspects due to their status as minors, however, Cape Coral Police Department Spokesperson Sgt. Julie Green did fully name them at the press conference.

The attempted robbery comes amid a recent spike in mass shootings and gun violence across the United States and a nationwide debate on gun control.
