In October 2021, a police K-9 in Bristol was shot and wounded by Allan Brown of Illinois. As a result, a Kenosha County judge sentenced him to 59 years in prison plus an additional 29 years of prolonged supervision.

Detectives from the Chicago Police Department also informed Kenosha County Dispatch that the car was reported stolen in a carjacking/homicide that occurred within their jurisdiction.
When the Kenosha County deputy arrived at the gas station, he or she found the suspicious car and saw that someone was inside.

After parking close by, four deputies in marked squads “began giving commands over the PA system” for the accused person to get out of the car with his hands raised.
After firing at the deputies, Brown hit Riggs in the forehead with a gunshot to the K-9.
When deputies attempted to apprehend Brown as part of Chicago police, they came up against him outside a convenience store in Bristol.
Chicago police had notified authorities earlier that morning that Brown was wanted in relation to two killings that had occurred there.
Allan Brown Found Guilty
In March, the judge found Brown guilty of the following offenses:
- First-degree careless endangerment of safety on three occasions
- Gun possession by an out-of-state felon
- Use a deadly weapon to attack a firefighter or police officer, causing injuries
- Animal abuse: the role of law enforcement
- refusing to cooperate with an officer’s request to be placed under arrest
- Drive or use a vehicle without permission from the owner
