Arizona Street Preacher Holds on to Life After Suffering a Gunshot Wound to the Head

A troubling event occurred in Glendale, Arizona, where a 26-year-old religious leader was shot in the head while preaching on a street corner, leaving him in critical condition.

Hans Schmidt, a military medic and devoted Christian father of two, was conducting gospel preaching and promoting a local church service when the shooting occurred on Wednesday at 51st Avenue and Peoria.

Authorities confirmed that Schmidt, who had recently relocated to Arizona, was hospitalized in critical condition following the attack. 

Gina Winn from the Glendale Police Department expressed shock and dismay at the tragic event, describing Schmidt as a young military man recently married with small children.

Victory Chapel, where Schmidt served as an outreach director, provided an update on his condition, indicating some encouragement in his recovery while urging continued prayers for his well-being.

Gina Winn underlined the importance of Arizona community participation, urging witnesses and anybody with relevant information to come forward. 

The Glendale Police Department is actively seeking additional witnesses to assist in the investigation, imploring the public to provide any details that could help bring justice to Schmidt and his family.

Local witnesses, including Paul Sanchez and the owner of Jesse James Comics, expressed shock and disbelief at the violent turn of events. 

Sanchez described situations in which onlookers hurled insults at Schmidt while he preached on the street, emphasizing the hostile atmosphere preceding the Arizona shooting.
