A shocking incident involving a Miami-Dade Police Department officer has sent ripples of concern throughout the community.

Officer Miguel Lomeli, 32, faces grave charges of armed sexual battery, armed burglary, and kidnapping in connection with a distressing altercation with his ex-girlfriend.

Allegedly, the confrontation occurred around 1:30 a.m. on Wednesday when Lomeli reportedly confronted his former partner outside her residence, subsequently coercing her into the home and committing a forceful sexual assault.

The severity of the accusations prompted swift action, with Lomeli turning himself in at the Miami-Dade PD headquarters in Doral just hours later, by 10:30 pm on the same day.

In response to the disturbing incident, Miami-Dade Police Director Stephanie V. Daniels expressed deep concern and a firm stance against such egregious behavior.

Director Daniels emphasized the Miami-Dade Police agency’s zero-tolerance stance for wrongdoing by its officers in a news release, saying, “There is no place for betrayal of public trust in the department.”

A shocking incident involving a Miami-Dade Police Department officer has sent ripples of concern throughout the community.

Facing Judge Cindy Glazer on Thursday morning, Lomeli received directives to maintain a distance from his ex-girlfriend while being granted time to secure legal representation before his bond hearing.

Reports obtained from the station revealed that the altercation originated at a restaurant in Homestead, leading to a verbal dispute before escalating into a disturbing sequence of events.

The 36-year-old victim disclosed that Lomeli pursued her to her home in his marked police vehicle, dressed in uniform, and armed with his duty weapon. Fearing for her safety, the victim raised the alarm, prompting Lomeli to flee the scene upon her son’s distress call for help.

Lomeli, a veteran officer with six years of service in the Miami-Dade police force, has stirred profound concerns about the integrity and standards of the department.

Director Daniels emphasized a commitment to upholding the highest ethical standards and protecting the trust of the county’s residents, asserting, “I will not allow this badge to be tarnished by anyone.”

The community’s reaction to the alarming claims made against one of its law enforcement officers is being keenly watched, underscoring the need for accountability and maintaining the integrity of public service.
