Germany is reportedly bracing itself for a potential armed conflict against Russia, according to leaked documents accessed by Bild newspaper from the German defense ministry.
The alarming revelation suggests that Russia might escalate its war on Ukraine by targeting NATO ally countries in the coming year, possibly leading to the initiation of World War 3. While Russian officials have dismissed the Bild report as fake, tensions are escalating in Europe.
The leaked documents propose a scenario named Alliance Defense 2024, indicating that the conflict could intensify in the next few weeks. The report alleges that tens of thousands of German soldiers could be deployed to the battlefield as part of the defense effort. With funding from the West diminishing, the documents suggest that Russian forces might launch a “spring offensive” against Ukrainian troops.
The report outlines a month-by-month escalation, with clashes expected to reach a critical point in September. Subsequently, it suggests that Russian President Vladimir Putin might orchestrate a large-scale military exercise involving around 50,000 troops in Western Russia and Belarus.

Moreover, there is the possibility that Russia might deploy both troops and mid-range missiles to Kaliningrad, which is a Russian territory strategically positioned between the NATO member countries of Poland and Lithuania.
By December, the leaked documents indicate that Russia might exploit the US presidential election to spread propaganda and escalate violence.
The report speculates that NATO would respond by implementing measures for credible deterrence by May 2025, aiming to prevent direct combat between Russian and Western forces.
The Kremlin, however, has chosen not to comment on the report, with Russian foreign ministry spokeswoman Maria Zakharova dismissing it as last year’s horoscope.
